Loving Your Family Feeding Their Future


Loving Your Family Feeding Their Future is an initiative of the USDA, Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). This project provides educational and promotional materials and techniques to help nutrition educators in their work with SNAP participants and eligibles. The client materials are specifically targeted and designed for English and Spanish speaking women with children ages 2 through 18. They are written in simple, easy to read language appropriate for a fifth grade level reader. Other nutrition assistance programs could use these materials with similar audiences.

Created especially for SNAP-Ed Providers, this online learning module explores the background, materials and applications of the Loving Your Family... initiative.

This Knowledge Flow Diagram provides a pictorial overview of how the Loving Your Family... initiative relates to MyPyramid and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and how these concepts were used to develop materials that can be used by nutrition educators to reach their low-literacy English and Spanish speaking clients.

In this short video, a SNAP-Ed provider explains how she found success with the new Loving Your Family initiative. One of her clients, Kristen discusses how she got her whole family on board with healthy eating by following the principles in the Loving Your Family, Feeding Their Future materials. Running time is approximately 5 minutes, 22 seconds.

Virtual Training "What's It All About" Tip-Sheets

FNS has developed a series of 8 virtual training tip sheets as part of the Loving Your Family... initiative. The purpose of these tip sheets is to inform and reiterate to nutrition educators the types of materials available in the Loving Your Family... initiative. Tip sheets were released weekly, beginning July 16th, 2007.
