Reviewers Comments: This book contains ideas for many different types of activities that incorporate education about fruits and vegetables and support the MyPlate message to “Make half your plate fruits and vegetables”. Activities include songs, games, coloring sheets, educational lessons, jokes and riddles, drama, costume ideas, and puppet activities. They can be used alone or as part of another program. The first section of the book describes different situations in which activities could be incorporated – in classes, nutrition programs, fairs, farmers markets, supermarkets, preschools and daycares, nursing homes, cafeterias, hospitals, at special events, athletic events and parties. Activities often require the purchase of additional materials. The material is best suited for grade school level children, but could be adapted for audiences of varying ages. Twenty-four reproducible coloring and activity pages are included. Recipes are included for some activities, but nutrition facts panels are not. A background in nutrition education is helpful to carry out some activities, but enough detail is provided for activities to be used by parents or other health professionals as well.
