| Reviewers Comments: | Power Up in 10 is great resource for people and families looking to increase physical activity. The booklet describes 10 basic strength training exercises. Exercises do not need a lot of space to practice and do not require any expensive equipment. They can be done inside or outside and the only items needed are a water bottle, a towel and comfortable clothing.
The exercises included in the booklet are appropriate for all ages, and can be done at work or at home with the entire family. Each exercise has a Take it Further tip, using a water bottle, milk container or dumbbell, to accommodate those looking for a more strenuous workout. The exercises include detailed, easy to read instructions and photos of the exercises. The photos represent men and women of different ethnicities. Each exercise also features a short nutrition tip. A blank calendar is included at the end of the booklet to help participants track their progress.
Nutrition educators could use this booklet as a guide when teaching physical activity to SNAP-Ed participants, or they could give it as an incentive to participants to use on their own. Because both English and Spanish are both included in the same booklet, but in opposite order, it could be confusing (the Spanish pages read right to left, and the English pages read left to right). The printed book is spiral bound at the top and includes a folded cardboard in the back, which allows it to stand on its own. It is available to order at cost or online for free.
