Important concepts, such as meal planning and budgeting are reviewed. Participants are encouraged to make a list before heading to the store using their coupons and taking advantages of store sales. At the grocery store, they are taught to compare prices, buy in bulk when appropriate, look for the freshest and least expensive fruits and vegetables and select the right meat and fish for their family.
During the video, some brands are visible or identifiable in the store. The prices of the items may not reflect current prices at the supermarket based on region and time of the year. This video would be great as a part of a class for adults, parents or caregivers who are the primary food purchasers in a household. It would work well when followed by a discussion of the concepts and tips provided in the video.
