Reviewers Comments: Rather than eating out, this video encourages having basic kitchen tools and staple foods on hand, making it easier to cook nutritious family meals. The video recommends some fundamental items, such as a large pot, a frying pan, and several types of knives. Each piece of equipment is displayed and its use is explained. Inexpensive and worn kitchen tools are shown and it is not advised to purchase many expensive new items. Where applicable, alternate items that can be substituted for kitchen tools are suggested, such as using an 8 oz can as a measuring cup. Staple foods and their uses are also reviewed.

After the review of equipment and ingredients, simple cooking steps are explained. The video shows how to cook tilapia and vegetables for a family using the basic tools. The video does not review food safety concepts or food temperatures.
