Captain 5 A Day Adventure Box: Teacher cards in the "In the classroom" section (Section 1) are written in all capital letters making reading more difficult. However, the take-home parent notes, Healthy Bones section and Physical Activity section are primarily written in mixed case. The fruit and vegetable serving sizes do not always match those listed in the US Department of Agriculture's Food Guide Pyramid for Young Children or the national Child and Adult Care Food Program serving sizes. Generally, recipes use low to moderately priced ingredients that are readily available. Recipe ingredients are not always listed in order of use. The yield is provided but no nutrition information is listed for recipes. Parent recipes do not always include serving sizes. Recipes using raw vegetables and grapes are included in this kit. Warnings that these items may cause choking in children ages 1-3 years are not always included on relevant recipe/activity cards. Educators may wish to refer to external food safety references for the latest recommendations concerning the Planting Sprouts and Making Raisins activities.
